A proposal for
Canada's only
Railway Station and Transit Heritage Resort
including
- replications of several
regional railway stations
for overnight lodging,
- a transit heritage depot,
- a lookout tower,
- gazebo or band shell,
- live steam miniature railway,
- a railway park,
- natural wetlands park,
- recreation linear park,
- connection to regional trails
The resort will be an economic generator
that will authentically celebrate the rail and transit
heritage of Central Alberta while representing the transportation
evolution of Western Canada from cart trails to regional transit.
It will create a unique experience that values family recreational
activity, the natural environment and the heritage of the prairies.

Railway Station Village of several replicated
rail stations of Central Alberta representing
Canadian Pacific, Canadian Northern, Grand
Trunk Pacific, Canadian National and Alberta
Central. Station uses include bed and
breakfast, single and multi-family overnight
lodging, community hall, interpretive centre
and refreshment area for
trail-users and
visitors;

- Railway and transit-themed playground
with family activity area including a 7.5" (1:8
scale)
Live Steam Miniature Train that carries passengers.
Replications of the locomotives of Central Alberta
may include Jubilee 3001;
- Railway Station Park - a general re-creation of CPR
Red Deer (or similar) Railway Station Park;
- Observation deck or tower (possibly with
restaurant or snack bar) to view active trains, the
overall park, acquired heritage
artifacts, natural
area and general locality;
- Replicated 1950s-style Bus Depot with restored
passenger transit vehicles and interpretive centre
showing the past and future of people-movers;

Forth-Mintlaw ACR Corridor Linear Park linking the
Mintlaw trestle and the Railway Station Heritage
Village with Red Deer, Gasoline Alley and the
regional trail system
- Picnic/gathering area with gazebo, band shell,
trails, green
space and natural area connecting to
regional trail network;
- Space for future acquisition of large railway and transit artifacts and
eventual
relocation of an existing rail museum;
- Alternate site for Alberta Central Historical Model Railway Museum
'The Junction'
is a tentative name for the resort and park -- other names
suggested include
'The Stations', 'Tuttle Park', 'Tuttle Junction', 'Forth
Junction' and 'Trestle Park'
