Trails, Rails and Transit
Heritage Centre
an interactive public gathering place to interpret and display the evolution
and role of historic trails, the railways and transit in the
development of Red Deer and Central Alberta as representative of the
settlement and economic advancement of Western Canada
exploring and celebrating the role of trails, trains and transit in the regional
economy from ancient times to the present and into the future
from
ancient trails
used by First Nations, explorers, traders
 followed
by the
crude
stagecoach service
along the historic C & E and other Trails
to the evolution of Red Deer as a major
rail distribution centre
for Alberta and Western Canada
to the glory days of inter-city
passenger train travel
when the station was the urban centre
to the
evolution of urban and inter-urban
public transit
with the building of roads and highways
to be located either within proposed Western
Canada Transpo Centre or as a stand-alone building within the proposed
Forth Junction Transpo Park
