Trail, Rail and Transit
Interpretive Heritage,
Activity and Nature Park
creating a unique experience that values family
recreational activity, the natural environment and the
transportation heritage of
the prairies, to be located near Red Deer and close to historic and/or current
transportation corridors
including
- replication and/or restoration of
regional railway stations
- interactive
interpretive centre
to showcase railway structures, artifacts
- transit heritage depot
to display historic transit vehicles
- ornamental rail station park
similar to the 1906 CPR park in Red Deer
- a lookout tower or
observation deck
with restaurant or refreshment bar
- gazebo, band shell
or outdoor stage for
cultural events
with picnic and gathering area
- live steam miniature railway
including 1/8 scale replication of 3001 Jubilee
-
natural wetlands area
with links to recreation linear park and trails
- and may include:
- Alberta Central Historical Model Railway Museum
- Trails, Rails and Transit
Heritage Centre
- Railway Station and Transit Heritage Resort
as well as
- Sufficient space for the possible future
acquisition of large
railway and transit artifacts
or the relocation of an existing rail museum
